The generic GUI drawing commands do not support the alpha attribute. If the size of the rectangle is known in advance (height and width can’t be modified at runtime) you can show and hide (and even move into position) by using the aph, x, and y attributes of a correspondingly sized text box component without text and the desired solid background color.
